Selected for the Italian team at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Giacomo and Cape Cod jumped four clear rounds and finished 9th in the individual final, the best Italian result, and 4th in the team competition.
From 28 August to 1 September, 15 nations met at the Horse Club of Terra Ionica for the show jumping competitions of the Mediterranean Games. Giacomo Bassi, alongside Matteo Zamana, Emilio Bicocchi, Lorenzo Correddu and Elisa Chimirri under Chef d'Equipe Marco Bergomi, secured 4th place in the team final. In the individual competition designed by Uliano Vezzani, Giacomo and Cape Cod finished 9th with 7 total penalties (0/7/0/0). "The horse was fantastic - we finished four rounds without touching a rail. An unexpected incident in the second round of the team competition, probably due to the lights, cost us seven penalties and the chance to fight for the medals in the jump-off. Competing against 15 nations at this level was a privilege," said Giacomo.
